Because I apparently cannot do HTML, here’s the ACTUAL link to Boo’s Blog. Sheesh.

Boo's Blog

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

H and I have decided to start a blog for Boo! I’m pretty excited. I often have a hard time deciding which category to put things under so this should help. You can find Boo’s Blog, brilliantly entitled A Boy Named Boo here. There is no design yet, but all in good time.

Not a great start …

The first day of 2006 was not a stunning one for poor Baby Boo.

  • First, he spent from about 3am to 6am screaming in agony that we could not resolve. We think it might be molars. Not to mention we’re all sick.
  • Then at Cracker Barrel the poor thing fell and busted his lip. First bloody lip. Yuck :(
  • Then later on at home, Boo got his finger slammed in a drawer and it looked like it hurt!!

My poor baby! Let’s hope that’s it for bad luck in 2006 and the rest of the year will be fab, okay???

Those Uggs!

Finally got a picture uploaded of those adorable Uggs Boo got for Christmas! (Please excuse the spaghetti sauce stain on the shirt. Toddlers. Sheesh.)

Christmas!

Sunday, December 25th, 2005

Boo had his first real Christmas today. Last year he was barely two months old, so it didn’t really count. Today though! What fun! He ripped at paper, played with boxes and plastic wrap, and got completely overwhelmed! Poor boy. A few favourites stand out: the ubiquitious corn popper, a toy vacuum cleaner, and some ball (animal shaped) bath toys from the UK. He also got a few train pieces, some books, some puzzles, and even a pair of baby Uggs! Will post pics of that soon, too cute.

Anyway, it was a good day! Boo played with the vacuum most of the day (he got the corn popper a few days early and played with that constantly too before today) but he actually got a bit ticked off at it a few times; we’re not entirely sure why. He loves when I vacuum though so I hoped he’d like it. And he does!

It was good fun watching him open packages and try stuff out. It’s all completely new to him, which is such fun. I realize now, by the way, why parents often set the toys out unwrapped. It was kind of a pain in the butt getting things out of packages while he was hovering! A good Christmas I think. Side note, it was really hard not buying him too much stuff! But these should last a while, I hope :D

P.S. There are already Christmas pics up on the website! Go us!

Such a little boy

I hate to be cliched but Boo is growing up right before my eyes!! I know it should be obvious, but it still surprises me just how quickly babies grow up. It’s not that I want anything to slow down, each new development is so very cool, it’s just that I get caught off guard. When did you learn to do THAT! One week he can’t reach the doorknobs, the next week he can and before long I’m sure he’ll be able to turn them too. Then we’ll have to re-evaluate this babyproofing thing!

Boo had his first honest to goodness real dinner the other night. Nothing pureed in sight. He had macaroni in marinara sauce, steamed broccoli, and crackers. And better yet, he LIKED the broccoli! I hadn’t tried yet because broccoli made me nauseated during pregnancy and I wasn’t sure I was over it. Apparently I am. I *love* that he can eat real food. There’s still a good mix of pureed things going on, particularly in the meat department, but more and more it’s real food. Hooray!

The walking has really upped in pace. He’s so damn cute! Toddling around like that. And starting to run! And run INTO things. Gotta work on that.

He’s also stopped babbling. It’s kind of strange, he SOUNDS like he’s talking, but there aren’t any real words. But they COULD be words if I only knew what they meant. He’s got the right intonation, he combines and vowels and consonants like real words. He speaks sentences. No more gagagaga bababababa mamamamam dadadadada, it’s more like Geee bano gola dah.

And on the talking front, baby signs is improving too. He signs for book now at bedtime (now if only he would let me actually READ to him), he can do more and done at mealtimes, he’s recovered the fan sign too. It’s extremely cool. Looking forward to more of those coming about!

So we have a real little kid on our hands. Complete with tantrums, I might add. I must read up on discipline soon, I suspect.

And we're walking …

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

Nathan took his first steps today! Actually he took his first step in Florida, but we’re not sure it counts since it was just the one. Ever since he’s been more amenable to walking while we hold his hands. He has been doing pseudo-walking, meaning he’ll kind of fall over towards something and sometimes a step or two might happen in between.

But today!! Today was walking for real. Took at least 8 steps to get to Hen. Very cool. Very wobbly, but very cool. :)

It is really hard to ignore a child who can crawl over to you and shove their finger up your nose.

Boo woke up at 5:15am this morning. That is too bloody early. Thank goodness for the unspoken house rule that whoever drives for the day gets to sleep a bit more.

Did I mention photo albums for months 10 and 11 are up??

Probably not. They are alive and kicking! Here’s a wee sample:

PS Don’t forget there’s a username and password now. Gimme a shout if you wanna see!

What's this you call pants?

Friday, October 7th, 2005

Boo clearly does not remember that for the majority of his life he has in fact worn shoes, socks, jackets and hats. This summer, he has mostly worn a diaper and t-shirt. Now that it’s getting cooler, I’m trying to put socks on him and he’s like, “What the hell is this? Get it OFF!”

We bought him some shoes, considering that he’ll be walking soon, and he’s less than pleased. And pants! He can’t crawl well in them and he sits there pulling at them trying to get them off. And jackets! God forbid. I tried to put a sweater on him this morning and it was off within 30 seconds. Clearly I need something with zippers and a straitjacketed sleeves.

Winter could prove an interesting season.
