I won!

I hardly ever enter contests, I don’t play the lottery, and I rarely win anything (logically). The last time I vividly recall winning anything was in college at some fair type thing, and someone over the loudspeaker asked for people to hold up their keyrings — the least number of keys would win something. I had two at the time — car and house. So I won. And I don’t even remember what!

Fast forward to a few days ago when I found out I won a contest (okay, I came in 3rd) over at Baby Buy Products!

I have to admit I love these types of mommy/baby stuff websites and I have several in my blog feeder. I’ve found that I do have to take the occasional breather though, or the sheer onslaught of commercialism (buy! buy! buy!) makes me either really grouchy or really nervous that I’m missing something. But still, if you’re going to get something, you might as well know what’s the best thing to get. I love reviews of things!

These sites often have either discounts or contests, and I rarely use or enter any of them. I entered this latest contest though because I realized I happen to have met the editor, Laura, in person here in Seattle. So I dropped her an email saying “Hi!” and by the way here’s my entry :) The contest was for all “green” baby items which Laura had been reviewing, and many of them were on my mental shopping list for baby.

So I’m pleased as punch to have won. I actually can’t believe it! Here’s the list of goodies:

1. Camden Rose- Cherry Rattle
2. gDiapers- Trial Package
3. Obli- Organic Onsie
4. BabyBam- Bamboo Onsie
5. Sigg- Adult Water Bottle
6. Natursutten - Trial Package of three pacifiers
7. Think Baby- Trainer Cup
8. Baby Bunch- Organic Apricot Bouquet
9. Soysilk- Tofu Bear

Seriously. I could not be happier! I was hankering to buy the baby some organic cotton clothes (and bamboo is good too!), I’ve been pondering a Sigg or Klean Kanteen metal water bottle instead of my trusty (but apparently not so much) Nalgene, and I’d already bookmarked under “Shopping” the Think Baby trainer cup, the rattle, and the Natursutten rubber pacifiers. I already know I like gDiapers and having the small starter package sets us up for the hospital so no disposables are needed. WOO HOO!

So will I enter more contests? Nah, probably not, unless I really want the items (which is generally how I go about it anyway). I figure I just used up a ton of good luck right there :)

Congratulations! Woohoo! I can relate to the shock of actually winning something because it never….happens to me. Really. Never.
