Kate Hudson as "Mother Earth"

Apparently Kate Hudson is the image of Mother Earth. Actually she wears her kid a lot, which is very cool, but this is the first time I’ve seen her with a ring sling. So if that makes her mother earth, more power to her!
The crazy thing is they are RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE. Psling New York has what look like very basic cotton ring slings for upwards of $200!!! Hello. That’s one way to discourage average people from babywearing — make sure they can’t afford it! Oh well. At least Kate is doing it and looking cool. One more thing. How irritating is this article for asking if her kid was old enough to walk? Of course he’s old enough to walk, he’s like two. That is not the point. Would you want to hold the hand of a two year old on the streets of NYC? I know I wouldn’t. And if you don’t want to push a bulky stroller, then slings are a fantastic alternative! I know I’m looking forward to it being really easy to navigate the tube in London with a sling and a nearly two year old! ETA: Another thing I like about this photo. She’s clearly talking to her son. I’m sure I look like that too. That’s one of my favorite parts of babywearing, your kid sees what you see and you get to talk about things! It’s great fun. :) |

Kate Hudson is Earth Mother because she eschews foundation garments and fucks that guy who doesn’t wash his hair. The rest is just icing.
